New on The Fifth Floor:
Dana Edmunds

edmunds

Dana Edmunds has joined The Fifth Floor as an intern and Assistant Editor this spring.  Edmunds, a junior, is pursuing a major in Writing and a minor in Theatre Arts.  She grew up in Mount Pleasant, PA, about one hour southeast of Pittsburgh, and before coming to Pitt acted in eight plays, taking on roles from Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice to “Hot Lips” Houlihan in M*A*S*H

As a freshman at Pitt, Edmunds won first prize in the Composition Program Writing Contest.  She took her first literature course, “Tragedy,” with Dr. Jeff Aziz and was immediately hooked

on the Aziz approach.  She also took “Bible as Literature” with Aziz and will work with him as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant next fall.

Through Jumpstart, Edmunds has been working at a daycare center on Mount Washington this year and loves working with the kids.  “Pre-school and college are where you can be creative—where they tell you to think outside the box,” she explained.  After she graduates, she plans to spend some time writing and supporting herself, but eventually she hopes to attend graduate school in English.

In addition to writing, researching, and doing interviews for The Fifth Floor this spring, Edmunds has mastered most of the technology required for an email- and web-based publication.  Next year, Edmunds will be Associate Editor of The Fifth Floor.
