Inclusive Education is Healthy Education
With the Disability Studies Reading Group
January 26th, 11:30-1 PM. Location TBD.
Academics interested in pedagogy and education rights meet with activists from the Education Rights Network to discuss: Do preconceptions about healthy learning (e.g. Special Education discourse) negatively impact students with disabilities? How are students with disabilities disproportionately affected by school disciplinary structures and philosophies, and how might implementing Universal Design for Learning help integrate students with disabilities into the classroom and lecture theater? This discussion will be lead by Pam Harbin from Education Rights Network and Tiffany Sizemore from Duquesne University School of Law.
Limited space, RSVP required by January 11th, as lunch is provided. To RSVP and to receive access to the readings, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Funding provided by the Year of Healthy U, along with the Center for Bioethics + Health Law, Department of English, Department of Sociology, Department of Communication, Rhetoric Society of America, Cultural Studies, the Humanities Center, and Students for Disability Advocacy.
