Graduate Writing Awards
Edwin O. Ochester/Academy of American Poets prize
An annual award of $350 sponsored by Edwin Ochester in memory of his father is given for the best poem or group of poems by graduate students in the Writing Program. It is judged by a nationally known poet from outside the department. The deadline for submissions is usually in the spring term.
The Turow-Kinder prize in fiction
An annual award of $300 endowed by Scott Turow is given for the best piece of fiction by a graduate student in the Writing Program. The deadline for submissions is usually in the spring term. The prize is ajudged by a nationally known fiction writer from outside the department.
