Amy Whipple

Amy Whipple teaches journalism and nonfiction writing at the University of Pittsburgh and is a grader for the composition program in Pitt’s Swanson School of Engineering. She is a freelance journalist/essayist, and her work has appeared in PINJ, The Imprint, PublicSource, HuffPost, The Guardian, Pittsburgh Magazine, Carnegie Magazine, and Pittsburgh City Paper, among others. Her stories “Diversity in Nature” (Carnegie Magazine) and “A Matter of Pride” (Pittsburgh Magazine) were Press Club of Western Pennsylvania Golden Quill Awards Finalists for Excellence in Written Journalism. She holds an MFA in nonfiction writing from the University of Pittsburgh and is a member of The Authors Guild and the Women’s Press Club of Pittsburgh.
