Associate Professor, Department of English, University of Alaska Fairbanks
What I particularly value about my time at Pitt is the fact that the English Department faculty I worked with were devoted to opening up avenues of critical study for their students as opposed to limiting them. I had the freedom to explore my own intellectual interests, and I was encouraged to develop innovative ways of approaching my scholarly endeavors. I also appreciate that I had the opportunity to work with a group of diverse scholar/teachers who were dedicated to both literary/cultural studies and composition studies. They showed my how intellectually rewarding both of these fields can be.
