  • Graduate Student, PhD Composition

Andrea Paolini’s research focuses on intersections between human rights and writing, including refugee narratives, ethical travel writing, and human rights education. Her current project demonstrates how integral writing is to achieving and maintaining human rights praxes and proposes possible collaborations between Writing Studies scholars and human rights activists. Before beginning her PhD she worked for seven years as a senior development officer in Indigenous programming with the Government of Canada. She spent the 2019-2020 academic year conducting ethnographic and archival research in Malawi and Rwanda, while also serving as a volunteer gender policy advisor to the national secretariat for Malawi’s tea sector.
