JD Wright

J. D. Wright earned his PhD in English from Pitt in 2015 after a legal career and a JD from William and Mary in 1992. As a scholar, his field of expertise is 17th-Century devotional arts and ideas of recreation and play, with an emphasis on the poetry of George Herbert. As a teacher, he is a generalist and teaches a wide range of diverse courses, from Science Fiction in the English Department to Behind Bars and Madness and Madmen in Russian Culture in the Slavic Department. Dr. Wright’s principal affiliation with the University is as a teaching and learning consultant with Pitt’s Teaching Center. Publications in a variety of fields include articles in the journals Anglican and Episcopal History, Law and Literature, and Explicator; and book chapters in Critical Insights: Flash Fiction and Stanley Kubrick: Essays on His Films and Legacy.
