Dana Nowlin-Russell holds an MFA in creative writing (with specializations in nonfiction and children’s writing) from Chatham University and a BA in sociology (with minor in religious studies) and PPW certificate from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dana is the Director of the Public and Professional Writing Program and teaches courses including Written Professional Communication (WPC), WPC: Topics in Diversity, Writing and Anxiety, Grant Writing for Nonprofits, and Grant Writing for Research. She also tutors in the Writing Center and offers grant writing support through the Writing Institute.
She has several years of professional experience—working in the education and mental health fields—and has collaborated with administrators, educators, and students across a variety of settings.
She considers herself a lifelong student who tries to be creative (and have fun) in most areas in life. When Dana is not teaching, she crochets, plays piano, games (tabletop and video), writes a little bit of everything, and reads comics/graphic novels, manga, and YA novels.
