Renee Prymus

Renee's Affiliations: Vibrant Media Lab, Swanson School of Engineering, First Year Programs

Renee Prymus is a Teaching Associate Professor and the Director of the First-Year Engineering Composition Program. She also teaches other courses in composition, including Seminar in Composition and Writing for the Sciences. Renee has been with the University of Pittsburgh since 2007 and has also worked with the Department of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University as a writing consultant for graduate students. She specializes in first-year composition.

Renee often teaches themed composition courses as First-Year Seminars, particularly Writing the Spiritual and Fun & Games. She is also a long-time instructor of Workshop in Composition: ESL and can sometimes be found in Pitt’s Writing Center. She enjoys breaking open the traditional five-paragraph essay and inviting students into personal and academic inquiry.

Renee holds an MFA in creative nonfiction and a Master of Ministries in theology. Her work has appeared in Creative Nonfiction.
