Sasha Jason

  • Graduate Student, PhD Composition

Sasha Jason is an English PhD student in the University of Pittsburgh’s Composition program. She received her BA in English from Spelman College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and an UNCF/Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow. Her research interests include Black Educational Traditions, African American Rhetoric, Black Masculinities/Femininities, and Popular Culture.

She has previously focused on representations of Black male educators, reconceptualizing the rhetorical violence encoded in their racialized and gendered performances. Her work draws on the inwardness of Black life, carrying this sentiment into her research and teaching. Sasha hopes to enter the world of academia as someone who leaves students with a new sense of intellectual curiosity.
